Grimms' Tales For Young and Old
The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids
This story is from the Grimms' Tales for Young and Old
Summary
This fairytale is about a mother goat who takes care of seven young children. She leaves them alone to go into the forest, but warns them about the wolf who will eat them. They are home alone and see a paw on their window, the wolf breaks in, and the children all hide in different parts of the house. He finds all of the children but one. The mother goat comes home to find only one of her children. She finds the wolf outside sleeping and cuts him open. She pulls out six of her children. Luckily, he swallowed them whole. The goat filled his stomach with stones, so later when he went to drink from the well, he fell in and drowned.
Recommendations
I would not read or share this tale with the younger grades, or primary grades. I would maybe only start sharing this with middle school-age students. It could be very confusing for elementary students and it also might be disturbing to students.
If I were to share this with older students I would want them to compare this fairytale story from ones we are used to hearing and how they are different.
