Read Aloud Rhymes for the Very Young

Selected by Jack Prelutsky
Illustrated by Marc Brown

Prelutsky, J. (1987). The Walker book of read-aloud rhymes for the very young. London: Walker.

There are more than 200 short poems for children in this collection.  This is a great book to have in the classroom or your home.  It is a great resource to have when looking for a short poem to read to children for a transition time.  Also it gives children the opportunity to read through many short poems at once.
The illustrations are cute and could be familiar to some readers of the Arthur series, because these books have the same illustrator.
