Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

By: Bill Martin and John Archambault

Published in 1989 and recorded in 1991-1992

Martin, B., & Archambault, J. (1989). Chicka chicka boom boom. New York: Simon & Schuster Books     for Young Readers.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a book that is great for young readers learning the alphabet and learning to read. Its an alphabetic rhyme, in which letters race each other up a coconut tree.  The pictures are very colorful and take up the pages.
I read this book over and over again as a child. It is a great interactive book that the you can engage children in.

This books is a traditional book because of the rhyme verse it has throughout the book.  It follows a nursery rhyme rhythm throughout the story, and allows children to learn the story and words and follow along.
Below is a video of an animated video of the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom song.
